Dear Dwight Families, In just a few short days summer will be coming to an abrupt end for our students and families. This is always met with mixed emotions and reactions this time of year. Our schools are ready to welcome our students back on Wednesday, August 17. The maintenance staff have been hard at work all summer deep cleaning and updating our facilities. They have taken on several larger projects this summer such as the DCS playground and DTHS pressbox, just to name a few. Our buildings look great and we are excited for our students to see the updates. Our office staff have been busy with all the behind the scenes work that goes into getting ready for a new school year. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve the students, staff and families of Dwight as the Superintendent of Schools. The motto of the Dwight Public Schools has long been, “May the Welfare of Boys and Girls be our Chief Concern”. While that motto is decades old, that message holds more true today than maybe ever before. Our teachers, administrators, staff and boards of education all strive for the same objective- to make Dwight Public Schools the best place they possibly can be. I encourage all students and families to become involved in the school and community. Our schools offer many extracurricular activities and opportunities for our students to become involved. Being active in your school and community has been shown to assist students in being successful in not only school, but also in life. My hope is that all of our students in jr. high and high school become involved in at least one extracurricular, if not multiple. Successful schools and students are dependent on a positive home to school connection. While we will work tirelessly to serve our students, we need positive support systems at home as well. Be involved and know what is going on with your student and communicate with their teachers about how to be an educational partner. A positive home to school support system is what will truly make an impact on each of our students. I look forward to working with all of you to make our schools the safest and best schools they can possibly be. Sincerely, Josh DeLong Superintendent Dwight Public Schools

Hello Volleyball Girls! DTHS will be holding a volleyball camp, sponsored by Coach Perschnick on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, July 11, 12, & 13th at DTHS gym from 4-6PM each night. The camp will cost $30.00. I'm sure most of you have heard that we have lost our coaching staff for the upcoming season, but I have GREAT things ahead for the team, which I cannot give details until early next week! BUT, I'm very pumped for what may be happening! Coach Perschnick is just stepping in to help get the girls back into condition and work on skills and drills, prior to the hiring of the new coaches. So for now, please spread the word, and if you are interested in the camp, call my office number @ 815.584.6202 or email me @ cathy.ferguson@dwight,k12.il.us to confirm your spot for camp. The gym floor has just been refinished and the gym will be closed for all activity until Monday, July 11, the date of camp. We will be ready to have you back in here! I'm excited to begin a new season!

APPROPRIATE CHROMEBOOK USAGE Dwight Public Schools is proud to be able to loan Chromebooks to students for remote learning during this unprecedented time in education. We want to remind all students that the use of these school owned devices is limited to EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES ONLY. Students should be utilizing the Chromebook for teacher assigned and directed activities. Student logins are monitored and any misuse may result in your device being disabled. Some examples of misuse include, but are not limited to the following: general internet searches that do not pertain to teacher assigned activities, the use of websites such as YouTube for non-educational activities, and use of gmail for personal use. We are excited to see what our students are able to accomplish during this remote learning adventure!
